I am cleaning/organizing my sewing room. Have you ever gone back and looked at fabric in your stash and think "why did I buy that"? I thought I'd share a few fabrics that baffle me now.

I bought this to put in the quilt for my son. But then him sleeping under a quilt with flames seemed like bad luck to me.

Chicken fabric, why did I feel the need for chicken fabric. It's not even cute chicken fabric.

Onions ... what was I thinking?

Again, same thing with this cabbage print. I don't even like cabbage.

I must have been vegetable obsessed. I actually think this may make a cute potholder, but I have no memory of buying this.

Also no memory of why I bought this, I like this one although why I own gnome fabric.
perplexes me.

Has anyone else had this problem? I think it's called fabric consciousness disorder, or maybe when I go to the quilt shops or fabric stores, fabrics just follow me home.
When I was young I would coax neighborhood cats and dogs home and tell my mother they "followed" me. Maybe it's the same thing now, but with fabric.

I completely understand - I have been looking in my fabric drawers lately and wondering why I 'still' have some of the fabrics I have in there - I will NEVER use them!

Oh that Gnome fabric!!!! My dad would have flipped to have something made from that.....he had a yard full of Gnomes and just loved them. I'm saddened that he will miss the movie coming out this year.

At least the gnomes are cute. :-)

Funny. I have a bag that gets filled with those "what was I thinking" pieces and a friends using the fabric to make lots of charity quilts--homeless, wheelchair bound seniors, etc...The gnomes are kind of cute.

Interesting choices! Though the gnome fabric is fun; what you'd use it for though I have no idea. I can't join in on the fun with this one I'm afraid, as I have no stash to speak of. I've got two half metres that I bought last year and still love; about ten fat quarters of tone-on-tone, some width strips left over from other projects and that's about it, apart from plenty of scraps. This year I'm going to use up all the scraps, then buy some new fabric. But I'll try to avoid the 'why on earth did I buy those' fabrics.

I'm sure the fabric follows. It knows you will give it a good home.

oh Lynn,
I have the same feelings!
When I take a look at my fabric stash I get worried about my tastes...;)

I completely understand! I moved last August and filled 12 large garbage bags with fabric I don't recall buying or wondered why I did. My friends now have most of it...so they can wonder later! :0)

This post just cracks me up. We all have bought fabric and now say "Why!"

I'm still chuckling over this post, Lynn, and I can SO relate. Not only does fabric follow me home. but yarn does too!

LOL Yes I understand but I think you ought to blame the gnomes here for deciding to come home with you bringing their vag patch and a fire to cook their soup by. ROFL

I've found my taste in fabric has evolved and as the seasons change, what I sew with does too. At the moment where I am hoping for Spring I am chosing brighter colours after the pastels of snow.

I love the gnomes, chickens, and flame fabrics... those would be fun to play with! The veggies... I have no idea. I read some where once that if you think a fabric is ugly you just haven't cut it in to small enough pieces.
