Has anyone ever used fusible fleece as batting? A woman who works at one of the local quilt shops showed me a quilt she used it on and highly recommeneded it. Any thoughts on fusible fleece?

Not used fusible fleece- new one to me. I have however used fleece with 505 adhesive spray to back and even line a quilt and it has worked well as long as it's a good thickness of fleece. It's great to snuggle under with the fleece backing so ideal in front og the TV.

I haven't used fusible fleece, but I have used fusible polyester batting. It was super easy to use and quilt with. No pins! I however have since decided that I don't like polyester batting. I prefer cotton.

I only use fusible fleece in my bags. If you want to do away with the pins and basting then I'd suggest trying spray baste and a good quality cotton batting. It's so easy to use and so much faster. I think you'd find you'd be disappointment with fusible fleece, 1. because it's polyester, and 2 because it's extremely thin. Just my 2 cents.

Never used it either.. but on my bags or stockings yes. I wonder if the quilt becomes tacky after washing.. meaning will it pull and wrinkle while washing and drying.

Let me know where you went so I can view her quilt too.

with love,

I love fusible fleece and we can no longer get the best one....over here in Oz or even Hancocks have sent me something else. I got heaps when they had their free overseas shipping.
I love it for bags but like it no less in quilts. However prefer it in smaller quilts so I can handle the ironing on more easily. Ideal for table runners etc. I have only used the one sided fusible ..do not think I could cope with both sides. So you still need to spray baste the other side.
I would try it on something like a table runner first and see how you like the degree of firmness.
The one I used to like would be too firm for a lot of quilts but the one available now is not much different. You need to be super careful in the ironing on process.

I use fusible fleece in all of my bag/purse patterns but have not used it in any quilt projects. I love it!

I've not used fusible wadding as it's so much more expensive than ordinary wadding, but I'll be interested to hear how you get on if you decide to try it.

I seem to remember Cherri of Cherry House Quilts doing this. I have never tried it.
