vintage thingies thursday

I bought 25 pounds of peaches today - so it looks like this weekend I'll be busy making jam and preserves. The peaches look so pretty in this bowl which belonged to my mother. This is a 'jewel tea' bowl. My mother often spoke about the Jewel Tea man coming to their house - I think they sold housewares.

Hopefully I'll have some sewing related posts again soon. I'm finishing up a few projects at once. My stitchers angels items are almost done!

That is a pretty bowl! It also makes my tummy growl thinking about all those things you are going to do with those peaches! Don't forget about peach cobler!

Lynn, I have a cooking booklet from the Jewel Tea Company. I'll post it next week. That's a lovely bowl.

I bought peaches this week and made some freezer jam. Sadly about half of my peaches were brown inside. :-( Hope yours are better! :-)

I found you through Melanie's blog (Jellybean Angel). Oh how thrilled I was to see your Jewel Tea bowl. Also called Autumn Leaf. My mother's has her set and my grandmother's. Lots and lots of pieces. The Jewel Tea man used to come to my grandmother's house and sell bread and other stuff from his truck and apparently this is where she bought the dishes too.
