For Vintage Thingies Thursday I am showing a small tablecloth my grandmother made. She was older and in poor health by the time my sister and I - the youngest of the grandchildren came along. She made a few tablecloths for us to use at our "tea parties" You can see from the stains on this one that they were well loved and used. They fit our little table perfectly. Imagine doing all that stitching for children - I still appreciate that. In fact my daughters used the same tablecloth for their tea parties - @# years later!

Oh my that is so beautiful and a real family treasure! Have you tried mixing a paste of bicarbonate of soda and a drop of water on the stains?

I love the colours she chose- so full of Summery picnics.

Oh, I love it! I'm a sucker for embroidery. Your grandmother really treasured her granddaughters. :)

Lynn, that tablecloth is amazing - she sure did put in a lot of work for you to play! You're so lucky to have kept that! Thanks for the comments on my blog, I did think it was funny too about chickens running in the road - especially because there are chickens that have been living right on Main Street all year and they've never been in the road - even when they have been loose!
