I've had this for a three years (yes years). It was a block of the month from my local quilt shop. I've been meaning to finish it for fall and I finally have. I've had issues about my machine quilting skills which I why I have some ufo's. But I've found with more practice I'm getting better and not so afraid to tackle some of my tops waiting to be quilted. This weekend I'm going to baste another and begin quilting that - I'm on a roll.

another angel swap done
I finished this bag from the angel swap. I've wanted to make a bag for a while now. After one previous disastrous attempt I thought I should try again. I'm really pleased with how this turned out. The corners are all squared up! I quilted the bag and am thrilled that my quilting skills are improving with practice. I translated the writing into my partner's language. Hmmm - I guess that may narrow it down some for me.

vintage thingies thursday
I bought 25 pounds of peaches today - so it looks like this weekend I'll be busy making jam and preserves. The peaches look so pretty in this bowl which belonged to my mother. This is a 'jewel tea' bowl. My mother often spoke about the Jewel Tea man coming to their house - I think they sold housewares.
Hopefully I'll have some sewing related posts again soon. I'm finishing up a few projects at once. My stitchers angels items are almost done!

For Vintage Thingies Thursday I am showing a small tablecloth my grandmother made. She was older and in poor health by the time my sister and I - the youngest of the grandchildren came along. She made a few tablecloths for us to use at our "tea parties" You can see from the stains on this one that they were well loved and used. They fit our little table perfectly. Imagine doing all that stitching for children - I still appreciate that. In fact my daughters used the same tablecloth for their tea parties - @# years later!

I received my fabric swap from The Marvelous Mouse Design Fall Fabric swap. It's from Chris at Fuzzy Sheep Crafts. She sent me some bright dotty fabric - which I love. Chris also made me two lovely gifts: a pincushion which was made from her great-grandmothers stash and an eye pillow filled with rice, flax and lavender. The lavender comes from her grandmother's garden in Provence, France! She used a darling chicken fabric on the eye pillow and the other side of the pincushion. I'm not sure I want to put pins in it. I may have to start collecting pincushions now! Check out Chris's blog http://fuzzysheepknits.blogspot.com/ she has some darling baby pictures to share. Thanks Chris!

2 posts in one day!
a finish
I thought I had signed up for Eileen's (www.eileensattic.blogspot.com) summer stash challenge and was working up to the last minute to finish it. But I never signed up - that's okay - because now I have this beautiful FINISHED quilt that I would have not made otherwise. I've had this butterfly print for a long time and never wanted to cut it up. So I just put my borders on and now I can still admire the fabric as a whole. I quilted around each butterfly, so it has a nice effect. By the way, if you've never visited Eileen's blog - check it out - she has wonderful vintage items, quilts and her pictures are so lovely to look at.
