I've been busy trying to finish up my swaps and just when I'm getting mine off to the post office - my SSCS swap AND my dqs #5 arrived together. My big problem is the SSCS package - taunting me. I'm starting to see other people out there getting theirs and opening them. However, Chookyblue said do not open it before Christmas. But ... maybe it's something christmassy that I will want to enjoy throughout the season. This is going to be tough - I'm short on patience & overly curious. Maybe just a peek. Oops just emailed Chookyblue to let her know about getting the swap and she said DO NOT open it until Christmas - so I am going to have will power and wait! So if you are my partner - no worries.

On a less problematic note - I could open my dqs box and I was so thrilled. Megan over at www.willworkforfabric.typepad.com was my partner. I love what she made for me. She has done little hourglass blocks - that are so bright and pretty. Look at the quilting and I read on her blog that she did it from the back!!! She's quilted flowers on it! I've posted a picture of the back so you can see for yourself the exquisite flowers she's quilted. In addition she's made me a little bag and look at these pretty fat quarters - they are absolutely my favorite colors. Thank you so much Megan!!! Go look at Megan's blog - she has the most wonderful quilts and such beautiful applique and take a look at her patterns.

vintage thingies thursday

I've been neglecting Vintage Thingies Thursday for a while. I thought of it today while I was looking for a certain scrap in this cookie jar that belonged to my mother. Cute isn't it? Chocolate Chip cookies used to live in it - mmmm. Now fabric scraps live there - mmmmm.

I've caught up on Lynette Anderson's Noah's Ark bom. I have to say that this month's penguins are my favorite. I'm looking forward to see what animals are left.

crafty creative and fit ( well hopefully)

On my sidebar you'll see the crafty, creative and fit logo. I thought I would post a picture of where I spend some of the "fit" part of that. For some reason I never take my camera with my on a sunny day. I'll have to do that soon as it is so pretty there now with the leaves turning. Yesterday everything look golden - this really is my favorite time of the year. I begin each day with a 4 mile walk around this lake.

I meant to post this yesterday - I saw this at a quilt show a few weeks ago. The name of it is "Yes, we can ... and in my lifetime". It was made by Marjorie Diggs Freeman of the Durham-Orange Quilt Guild. I hope she won't mind me sharing. If you enlarge the image you can read the quotes. I love the way she used the flag fabric and the stars and the images within.
